Optic Fiber Link btw IVI & IGD card

HuzaifaQureshi Posts: 51 Rating: (1)	Dear Experts I faced a problem with one of the Masterdrives that for cleaning I disconnected the optic fiber cables from IVI, when I again connected communication between IVI & IGD was not there. I tried to loose and tighten the fibre cable connections on IVI sometimes and it worked. But I am not sure what are the standard instructions to do that. Is there some document or manual with the instructions about handling and precautions forthese optic fibre cables and connections? Regards M. Huzaifa

MAC84 Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello, Fiber optics are partially made of glass, as for our preventive maintenance I used a window cleaner solution or glass cleaner solution and I sprayed it on the tip of the optical fiber cable until its tip point becomes wet then you rub it with a clean piece of cloth until it becomes dry. I advice do not use to blow a wind from your mouth cause the moist of your saliva might stick on the tip of the fiber. You may use air blower to dry the tip before you connect it to the optical Rx/Tx. Now, for the servicing of the Optical Rx/Tx of the IVI and IGD board. I used contact cleaner eg. CRC contact cleaner with a nozzle attached to its spray head. What you will do is you point the nozzle on the optical fiber's Rx/Tx or you insert the nozzle on the port and start to spray until it flushes the moist inside. Then you can use air blower to make it dry. Thats all... I hope it may help you.
