Simovert 6se7022-6ce6 communication

mcw63 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hi, I am trying to upload the drive parameters from a 6se7022-6ce6, i have no experience of Siemens drives. I have made the serial RS232 cable as described in thesimovert manual(chapter 8) and i have not been able to get online to the drive. DoI need an RS485 converter to go between simovert and laptop? (There is only one drive) What setup do i need to do in order to use my laptop serial port to communicate with the simovert? i have set the baud rate to 9600 on simovert and in drivemon. I tried to use the "Set up USS online connection" but nothing is found. Are there any switches i need to position correctly? what parameters set X300 for RS232 communication? All help appreciated. Look at http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/13472409 (from page 110). There has explanations also how to work with DriveMon. If the cable is OK, you can change baud rate from 9.6 to 19.2 kbps and try again. By the way, I am using this cable. regards

mcw63 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Thanks for your help UMENCHO, I haven't been able to get online, we have checked the cable several times now, but no luck. Why is it that you use a different cable than that listed in the compendium? I'm not very familiar with all the settings to check, especially the response timeout and request retries. I have left these at default. Am i right that all the settings i need to change are those under tools > online settings in drivemon + the baud rate in the Simovert (P700)? again, thanks for your help. Morgan

And I continue to use. Later I'll check again connection pins. So, you need the right cable, adjust the baud in DriveMon and that's it. regards

mcw63 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	I am unfortunately still not able to communicate with this drive :( I am now sure that I have the correct cable, and a good version of drivemon, as I have been speaking to a local Siemens rep about this. However I still cannot get online with the drive, when I go to the "online (RAM)"/"online (EEPROM)" option the bottom status bar simply says "no connection to drive" and am unable to select upload parameters. It is worth noting that there are two drives, identical in setup (Supposedly), and neither of them will talk. I am thinking that the drive parameters for communication aren't set up correctly. Perhaps someone used profibus to connect to this in the past? The PLC that is used in the system connects to the drive only via 2 analog signals (so no sneaky profibus connection here). I am going to check P918 (should be 3 if profibus hasnt been used?) this morning, and also P053(should be 6 to allow all kinds of parameterization?). Can anyone tell me if there are any other parameters that might have been changed, either by accident, never being set up before, or otherwise, that would stop serial(rs232) communications from working? thanks, Morgan

mcw63 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	YAY! I have solved this problem by using a different PC with a different USB->serial converter. the first one i used didnt work, even though the one which did was the same make and model. i guess the Simoverts are just picky. thanks for the help
