6SE7038-6TK60-Z IGD8 1JC1 to 1JC2 compatibility SMU3 SML3 snubber resistor removal

dfulford Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi all, The drive in question here is 6SE7038-6TK60-Z In troubleshooting the infamous F025, F026, F027 problem we have uncovered this compatibility issue with the IGD8 boards. Aparently, on older drives, if you change 1 or 2 phases over to the modified (1JC2) boardthen nothing has to be done. However, if all 3 phases are changed over to the 1JC2 boards then the SMU3, SML3, and snubber resistors CAN be removed. That's what the compatibility document says; that they CAN be removed. This doesn't make much sense to me. Why is it OK for the SMU3, SML3, and snubber resistors to remain in place with mixed boards, yet be necessary to remove ALL of them when the 3rd board is changed over? I tried to attach the compatibility document but the forum wouldn't let me. We have over 30 MasterDrives here that are affected by this compatibility issue and it's going to be a nightmare to try to manage this to make sure we have the correct combination of boards in service for the life of our company. My questions are: 1. Do I HAVE to remove the SMU3, SML3, and snubber resisters if I change all phases over to the 1JC2 boards? 2. What will happen if I don't? Thanks all for your help.

Here they have removed the SMU and SML and the resistors from the ckt. This is possible because the new IGD boards have the additional ckt required for that purpose. So it is only an option for you to remove the snubber boards if your drive has the new version of IGD. Diwa
