We plan to use ET200M ( IM153-4 HF ) with S7-400H on PROFINET using Standard Configuration ( Open Ring )

My question is : Is it a must to use Active Bus Modules for the IM and the Signal Modules, as there will be only one IM in this case unlike 2 Nos IM153-2 HF as in case of Profibus.

active bus modules are required when you want to remove/plug IM/IO modules in RUN.

If you can afford to switch your system into STOP mode in these cases they are not required.

We always use active bus modules in our H-Systems whileacomplete systemshutdowncosts the client a fortune.

On the other hand - if they pay for it ?

Well we do not have a choice when using tradational ET200M with Profibus Redundant communication with S7-400H as it will not work without active bus modules regardless of whether we need Module Change during runtime or not . I understand this is because bus has to be switched between one of the two IMs.

I understand from your post that I can use ET200M with Profinet ( S7-400H - PN network ) without Active bus modules ( If I do not need need Module replacement in Run facility ). In any case there is only one IM and no Bus switching is needed.

Happened to bump into this while searching on other items.

I guess you may consider 6ES7195-7HA00-0XA0 (To accommodate a power supply and an IM 153 module for the hotswapping function during RUN, incl. bus module cover)

So, if we use the 6ES7195-7HA00-0XA0 (bus unit f. ps and im 153), we can install two IM 153-4 PN HF together on one et200m station? And they will work redundantly with each other?
