I have a complete ET200 AL setup with IM157-PN1  and three AI modules linked to it. 

i want to read the values of the AI channels. And convert them to Serial data and send to a PC. 

I think for this I need a CPU like Simatic S7 1200. This can be programmed to read the sensors and send the data as a serial stream to a connected PC ?? 

Since it’s a very simple job I want to use the most basic CPU capable of doing this.  Any idea on the relevent model ?

you can use the cheapest CPU (1211C)  because all 1200-CPU are equipped with a Profinet-Interface that is needed to connect the ET200 AL to the S7-1200. It's easy to read the analoque values. But you need an additional communication module, like a CM 1241 to connect the CPU to a PC via seriell Interface..

Thanks... that's exactly I wanted to know.

I guess there is no other method to read the sensor data coming from ET200AL directly by a PC. ( In the PC I am running another program in LabVIEW which will use this data for controlling a process )

to run the ET200 you need a ProfiNet-Master, which normally is the S7-CPU. I do not know Labview, but I don't believe that it is possible to run it as a ProfiNet-Master.

The best way to have a part-list is to use the TIA-Selection Tool.

At this CPU you can use also OPC-UA to communicate with different PC or more.
