What do you want to do exactly with the switch-object?

you could use directly a boolean Tag on the switch:

or if you want to execute a Script if the switchstate changes then you can use the event to read out the selected state of the item or so something else:

The functionality you are requesting does not depend on the version of TIA Portal. You are requesting functionality from the old WinCC Comfort. Since WinCC Unified is a different system, which is supposed to allow the same functionality as the old one, there are some differences.

However, the OnStateChanged event proposed by Murof has an isAlternate parameter that can be used within scripting to distinguish between the two possible states. This allows you to combine the functionality of the former two events into one.

The property called "Switch state" in engineering is the "IsAlternateState" property in the JavaScript object model. It is easy to get this information, just right click on the property in TIA Portal and select "Copy property name".

ToggleSwitch.IsAlternateState is just a generic syntax. It would not work in your script because you do not have a ToggleSwitch object. ToggleSwitch must be replaced with the name of an already referenced ToggleSwitch object. However, within the OnStateChanged event function, you can simply use isAlternate.

If you just want to have a tag set to the switch state, you should rather use a tag dynamization on the "Switch state" property. This would have better performance. But in general, your approach is correct, just not optimized.
