SteveJ Posts: 328 Rating: (29)	HI Thomas HMI Adv 6.3 would support USB program transfer if it were installed over Windows Xp as base operating system, it is not possible to configure the HMI Adv of a 6.3 over Windows NT, as NT does not generally support USB operation. Keyboard and mouse only via siemens special drivers. If with Xp, then you will need to completely disable the autoplay function of Xp, The path to your USB memory stick can be configured in Display MD. Best regards SteveJ

SteveA Posts: 297 Rating: (41)	Yes, it is possible to access a flash drive attached to the USB port, if the PCU 50 is running Windows XP. One method that allows both floppy and USB access is to purchase the DNC Machine option. Even if you don't use a network, you can define a soft key for the drive G:. The other method changes the function of the Disk/Card soft key from floppy to USB drive. This requires a re-boot, and this does not allow access to both sources. Refer to the article found at http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19074127for details. You may have to change the name of the section from [Services] to [Dienste] for this to work. DNC is for operation with net, I need only front USB port. Second possibility is with logdrive.ini but it is not running too. Third possibility is change drive letter for floppy from A: to G: in ?.ini file, it is runningbut I want use floppy und USB together.

The sofkey can only address one device which will either be the USB or the floppy by entering the device letter in mmc.ini. Each time you wish to use the other device you will need to change mmc.ini and reboot the PCU. Who wants floppies anyway ?

SteveA Posts: 297 Rating: (41)	I believe that the section you quoted only applies to the new solutionline control with HMI Advanced version 7, not the powerline and HMI Advanced version 6 The only way I know of to access both a floppy and a USB drive is to purchase and install the DNC Machine option, and configure one of the soft keys to access the USB drive Installing DNC Machine activates the parameters at MD 9676-79, whether they are used for network or local drives.
