How to copy a project from an SD card to another SD card using File Explorer?

Is it possible to copy the folder and file of the SIMATIC.S7S and S7_JOB.S7S project to a PC disk? Then send these files by mail to a friend, so that he writes them with Explorer to the SD card of his PLC. Will it work?

JBS98 Regular Member Joined: 7/19/2022 Last visit: 11/8/2024 Posts: 419 Rating: (71)	Hello ProgIga, Although it is not the official procedure to carry out program transfer from one SD card to another, copying the "SIMATIC.S7S" folder and the "S7_JOB.S7S" file from one card to another should work. From my own experience, the truth is that I have done it on one occasion and had no problem, but it is important to note that it is not a liberated procedure and the SD card can be damaged.

To do this, use the command "Card Reader / USB memory > Add user-defined Card Reader" command in the "Project" menu. The "Add user-defined Card Reader" dialog opens. In the drop-down list box, select the path for the card reader. Confirm your entries with "OK". A new SD card will appear in the project tree. Download the project to this card. Then this card needs to be archived and handed over to the customer. The customer will unpack the card and write it to his SD card in Explorer.
