how do I change from Metric to Inch position display on an 840C with SW 3?

Hi,

Assuming you want the display in inch you need to convert all of the relevant machine data over from metric to inch. Display setting and axis fedback, reference positions, feedrates etc.

If you are happy to work in metric with inch programming then G70.

If you are changing over regularly then you should write a cycle to do it. It was SW6 before Siemens provided a button for easy changeover.

Power off on is then required.
