Hi, The X005 serie are like the X100 serie unmaneged, so only a industrial switch with the possibility to feed them double. Those switches are also using the Fastconnect connectors. The managed switches are the 200 serie. In that serie you have switches for normal use and for Isynchrone Real Time (IRT). The X200 serie works with the possibility for fast I/O on Real Time in a higher priority whereby posibilitys are there to work with very fast I/O reaction times. The X200IRT switches have a timeshared synchronisation whereby the channel is reserved for the datapackage of a certain station. This give over a normal Ethernet the possibility to get update times of 250 microsecondwith a jitter of 1 microsecond. This is for very high performance networks a nice to have... [;)] The difference between the X200 and X200IRT is so the speed and the IRT-switch have even the possibility to be used as a Redundancy Manager, the normal X200 can only be client. (X005/X100 can't be used in a ring). A Redundancy Manager have the capability to close the ring in 300mSec. Normally with STP {Spanning Tree Protocol} or RSTP {Rappid STP} there are posibilitys to close the ring in 30 or 3 seconds. For a normal Industrial Ethernet is that too long! So is the X200IRT also capable as a cheap RM, normally you have to use a X414-3E for this function or a OSM with RM capability. You can read the differences in the next handbooks: Industrial Ethernet SCALANCE X005 & Industrial Ethernet SCALANCE X-100 and SCALANCE X-200 Product Line There is also a WEB based manager (like the one in the 200 serie) too see what you can change: Free Offline Version of the Web Interface of SCALANCE X-200 and SCALANCE X-200 IRT [8)] Also is it possible too mirror a port to a monitor port so that you can look too some datatraffic with Ethereal so that there is something to see. Normally you can't see anaything on a port of a switch, only the broadcast telegrams. [:o] There are also X101 mediaconverters for several old to new networks (S5 --> S7) and to change the media from Electrical to Optical: Industrial Ethernet SCALANCE X-100 Media Converter If you have some time to look to the manuals of the X400 then you can learn a lot about VLAN / Routing and that kind of Ethernet yargon: SIMATIC NET Operating Instructions Industrial Ethernet Switches SCALANCE X-400 & SIMATIC NET Configuration Manual Industrial Ethernet Switches SCALANCE X-400 I hope you have now enough information to get the differences between the two switches. |
I hope that the answer will help, if you have still questions, don't hesitate to ask me. |
