Hello,
I am working with a Leuze AMS 108i-40-H optical positioning laser sensor that measures distances from 0.1 to 40 meters. The sensor has two connectors:

• A 5-pin M12 A-coded connector for power supply and I/O signals.

• A 4-pin M12 D-coded connector for industrial Ethernet/service communication (TD+, TD−, RD+, RD−).

I want to connect this sensor to a Siemens S7-1200 PLC via industrial Ethernet (Profinet).

My questions are:

1. How to properly connect this sensor to the S7-1200 PLC?

2. What extension modules or communication cards are required to enable Ethernet communication?

3. Which function blocks (FBs), function calls (FCs), or communication blocks should be used in TIA Portal to read the measured distance?

4. Is this sensor compatible with Profinet, or should I use another protocol like TCP/IP (via sockets)?

5. Is there a specific Leuze library to import into TIA Portal?
