Is it possible to have different hardware configuration in the CPU 0 and CPU 1 in a 400-H system?

You can understand the difference by reading page 55 in the above linked manual by hdhosseini. I also recommend to read chapters 14.5 and 14.6. Briefly, if you have RAM cards then you can download to the master CPU and the standby one will beautomatically updated. This is not the case if you have FLASH memory cards. 1st you have to download when CPU is in STOP. 2nd you have to download to both CPUs (Automatic program update is not possible). You can download to CPUs with FLASH while they are running but the download will be targeting the work memory not the load memory. Once you restart the CPU, the unchanged program will be taken from load memory (FLASH) to the work memory and all changes will be gone. Best regards. You can have different hardware configuration in the CPU 0 and CPU 1 (Imake similar system). But CPU0 and CPU1 must have identical version fimware (but, it is believed that it is possible for version 4.5x I do not know - whether it's true?). You are cautioned that such an asymmetric configuration data in the CPU STOP-state is not available to other CPU and the need to provide appropriate error handling.

Hi Gre_m, Are there any documents available for this type of config? S7 400 Fault toarent system manual does not speak anything about such configs. I wonder how there can be different configs co exist during link-up and update, perticularly after a Memory Reset? Because during memory reset even the HW config is cleared. But It's not speaking of downloading different configs to the CPUs. My actual problem is as follows and to find out the possibilty I ask this question. My actual problem is We have a 400-H project where we used Timestamp. We had some spare inputs in the SM321 which were not parametrised for Timestamping. During extension of the plant we re parametrised those inputs and connected extra signals. Every thing is working fine with the CPU 0 as Master. But when CPU 1 becomes Master (whether CPU 0 is STOP or RUN) we do not recieve the Timestamp info of the newly parametrised Inputs.How is it possible? In 400 H we need to have the same configuration/User program for both CPU, how this can happen and any idea where to check? Inputs I am mentioning are located on a Distributed I/O rack with IM153-2 (2 ET 200Ms). Whenever the CPU change over from CPU0 to CPU1, ET 200M s are also chenge over (that is normal because the DP Master is changed). Regards, Arunkumar

If there is a difference in the Hardware Config of 2 CPUs, will not I get any error (REDF)? Also I did MRES and Updated the CPUs. In this case both CPUs should have the same program including HW Config, am I wrong some where? Also I did a Block Compare (System Data) and including SDB and I am not finding any differences. Now I wonder how there can be 2 different behaviours when CPU0 is Masterand CPU1 is Master. * I am not using flash card. Regards, Arunkumar

gre_m Posts: 947 Rating: (45)	Hello, Arunkekkar I have about 4 years have not worked in detail with the H-system, so I could be wrong (if anything, sorry). I will describe his vision of the H-system. When the processor is empty (for example, after the M-res), then when you load a program into a single CPU (eg, 0), then sync software modules loaded in a different CPU (1). Thus automatically obtain the same program in both the CPU. (Possible adjustment programs occurs when you run the processor). This explains the fact that as a result of your comparison of programs, you do not find differences. However, if you changed the configuration and load it into the CPU, then the equalization program to 0 and 1 CPU is no longer happening. To avoid problems associated with varying configurations and programs, I always post any changes laden programs in both CPU. I use Google-translate , and maybe something or misunderstood, ortranslate into English. If it is not clear, then ask. Regards, gre_m
