Max number of HMI connections

kaviPLC Member Joined: 4/28/2022 Last visit: 5/9/2025 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hey, I wanted to add 5 hmi's to a s7 1517 f PLC but the Max hmi connections for that plc is 4 . Is there any other way I could get this to work other than adding a cp card? Thanks in advance ☺

The CPU 1517F-3 PN/DP, V2.9 (6ES7517-3FP00-0AB0) allows 288 connections via integrated interfaces where 10 are reserved for ES/HMI/web. So from that point of view, there should not be any problem. Hi kaviPLC,

CPU 1517 allows up to 288 connections via integrated RJ45 interfaces, as already mentioned by Stefan.

From these 288 connections, are 10 reserved for HMI, bu you can use many more.

But what CPU with which firmware are you using really? Because as seen in your screenshot, only 4 are "reserved".

Nevertheless, in your screenshot you can also see, that you have 278 connections "dynamic", these can all be used.

I just tried to connect 10 Unified Comfort Panels in TIA Portal V18 to a CPU 1517-3 PN/DP V3.0. This was done without any problems. Connection Resources" shows a total of 20 resources used for HMI communication. Kind regards Stefan
