Because the maximum number of slave's on one network is 126 (inlcuding master) When you have a look in properties of CPU, you will see how many slave's are possible when using integrated Profibus. So you need a CP-card to get a second Profibus network. Pay attention: you will also have to use Repeaters. Because a segment may contain maximum 32 profibus members. So the profibus network needs to be divided into several segments. Best regards, Wizard

With 240 slaves, if each slave bring 50 bytes for instance, this would mean 12.000 bytes. Not all CPU/CPs kan handle that.

I agree in theory with Wizard about the maximum number of devices allowed in a network however please remember the following Address 0 should be left unused as this is used by configuration and/or diagnostic tools Address 1,2 are usually reserved for Class 1 Masters i.e. your CPU/CP Address 3..125 are used for Slaves Address 126 is resevered for the Set Slave Address function - e.g. Simocode PRO have this ability Address 127 is reserved for a Broadcast Address So therefore in practice you can have a maximum of 124 slaves per network.
