I can read data with ModScan, but I cannot seem to write data with ModSim.Below are the parameters that I have configured withCFC. Additionally, I am running a safety program which is called in OB100. Has anybody worked with this? 1. Does this have to be called in OB1? 2. DoI need MB_REDCL to write? 3. Can Iread/write with just one function block? 4. Do I need more than one MB_REDSV? So firstrole (Modbus TCP client/server)needs to be clear. Then you can selectblocks accordingly. Since Modscan ≈Modbus TCP client and Modsim ≈Modbus TCP Server, If you have made CPU as server then itmay not work with Modsim.

From configuration it seems that you are using "Holding registers" and "Input registers". By virtue of Modbus, Input registers can not be written from Modbus client. here are your answers. 1. Yes. you need to call it inOB1 orcyclic OB. 2. No. You do not need MB_REDCL to write. It will only be used if you are Modbus TCP client. You can write with MB_REDSV. 3.Yes you can read/write with same function block. 4. if your CPU is a Modbus TCP server then normally one MB_REDSV is sufficient. Hope this answers your queries. AutoGen_6415 Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	How does this work when the modbus logic is configured in CFC. I have 414-5H each with a CP443-1, so I am using OpenModbus/TCP RED. The example program for CFC does not have an OB1 call. A step by step diagram would be helpful, but the documentation is lacking. Furthermore, I have a PLC with random data sending write data to the CP, using function code 15 and there is no data.

AutoGen_6415 Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	I am still not having any luck with transmitting data to the CP443-1 from an external data source. I have tried using ModSim from my laptop and I have configured an A-B PLC with a Prosoft Modbus TCP module to write to the Modbus TCP Server (CP443-1). The instance data block for MB_REDSV indicates that the block is not parameterized or that the db_x is 0. This is not true, because there is a MB_Out_W wired (interconnected) to that block input. What is the best way to test this. I need to confirm that DCS data can indeed write data to the Modbus Server. Yes, MB_REDSV is being called cyclically in OB35. I am able to transmit data from the CP443-1 with no problems.
