Not that I have tried it, but I believe you would need to use the MB_SERVER block in the 1200 cpu and then you can connect to the 1200 cpu via the Modbus driver.

But is there reason why you cannot use normal S7-communication?

Both protocols are ethernet based, so if one can be used, then the other should be able to work also.
