MPI Conexion from PC to CPU 315T-2DP

James_fsm Posts: 13 Rating: (1)	Dear Experts: I have the next problem, when I try to download my hardware configuration from PC to CPU appears a message which reads: "Online: The local MPI address of the PG/PC is longer than the maximum size permitted for node addresses or an incorrect baud rate or incorrect interrupt has been set". Does anyone know what I should do? What´s happening? Thank a lot, fellows My Devices are: 1. PS 307 5A 2. CPU 315T-2DP 3. Technology 4.CP 343-1 5. DI16xDC"$V 6. DI16/DO16x24v/0.5A 7. DI16/DO16x24v/0.5A I haver already checked: 1. In Simatic Manager interface PG/PC: Property PC Adapter PC Adapter (MPI)-->Driver is already installed. Address: 0 Baund Rate: 187.5 kbit/s Highest Address Station: 31 Conexion to: USB 2. MPI Interface in HW Config: Type: MPI Address: 2 Connected: Yes highest Address Station: 31 Baund Rate: 187.5 kbit/s 3. NetPro PG/PC is connected to MPI interface with the YELLOW LINE PG/PC Address: 0

Thank a lot, fellows Hi, first think to do: please doublecheck, that you connect your MPI - cable onto the MPI - connector of the plc, NOT onto the Profibus - connector!

If yout T-CPU is not new, it is very likely the T-CPU is set to 12 MBit/s (to reduce the download time of the technology part, which can be up to 4MB). The USB-MPI-Adapter can use max 1,5 MBit/s. So you can not reach the CPU. You may use a Ethernet connection (via CP 343) use a PG (-> CP5412) use a CP5512 (PCMCIA), CP5612(PCI) or CP5711 (MPI) (all can go up to 12 MBit/s) use a new or erased MMC to online reprogram your CPU. Or you reprogram the MMC offline.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello Dirk, I am sorry... but maybe you did not notice yet that the CP 5412 is obsolete since 2002. The usual PG interface is the CP 5611 A2 (PCI) SOFTNET CP. As an alternative you may use the HARDNET CP 5613 or CP 5623. Just to mention. But I fully agree with you in the opinion that the use of the available Ethernet CP would ease the problem about the accessibility of the CPU. Usually every PC has at least one Ethernet NIC. I ask this cause I´ve always configured everything by MPI first then PROFIBUS or ETHERNET. do i only connect the ethernet cable and download the configuration like a MPI conexion? Thanks a lot.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, I guess the CP you use is up to date...lets say it is bought about now... or within the last 2 years. If so I can tell you that STEP 7 offers a tool to detect SIMATIC NET CPs and other SIMATIC NET Ethernet devices. With this tool you may also configure the CP or network device with an IP Address. This Tool may be found at PLC > Ethernet > Edit Ethernet nodes... I think... I will check the name once more in the office. Best regards J_Bell

Then try to set your PC/PG-Interface to PC Adapter (Auto) and use the network detection. It should detect MPI, 187,5 kBit/s, cause anew CPU has MPI, 187,5 kBit/s and address 2.
