MRP ring diagnostic with TIA V17

christopherreyes Joined: 1/10/2023 Last visit: 5/27/2025 Posts: 60 Rating: (1)	Dear all, I have an MRP Ring composed by an Scalance XC208 (Manager-Auto), two CPU 1512SP (Clients), four converters G120C (Clients) and four converters CU250S-2 (Clients). I would like to determine where the MRP ring is open so I can show it in an HMI screen. I have seen in some posts that this is possible with the block LPNDR_ReadMrpState but I'm using TIA V17 and I didn't found the library for this version. Do you know where can I found it? Or another ways to know the status of the MRP ring? Another question is: if the CPU is not the MRP Ring Manager, could I program the diagnosis in it? Would I have to program the diagnostic on both CPUs? Thank you very much.

This should be possible without any problems. The block "LPNDR_ReadMRPState" reads the MRP information from the MRP manager. You need to set the hardware ID of the PROFINET device, so you need to assign the SCALANCE to a PLC and use the instruction on that PLC. Kind regards Stefan

If not available you might have the wrong device in your project. You will find the right one in the catalog at "Network components > IE switches > SCALANCE X-200 managed > SCALANCE XC-200". Kind regards Stefan I added the switch again and now I can to assign it a PLC. Is a strange issue because when I am online there isn't any error. So, if I do the diagnostic with this way, I can have the diagnostic just in one PLC, do you have any idea for to have the diagnostic in both PLCs? In case of one of the PLCs fails. Thanks!!

You can use the signaling contact to report an MRP status change, but this is only a rudimentary solution. Kind regards Stefan

You can wire this to an input channel of your PLC or any other suitable device. Kind regards Stefan
