Hello Guys,

I have a problem regarding opening of WinCC project in WinCC explorer. When I click on the project file with .mcp extension, then show the following error.

"The configured server is not available.

Do you want to open the project using the local computer as the server" 

When I click on Start server locally then the project does not active and show the error

"The configured server is not available.please correct the entered server name"

Pleas any one suggested me why show the error and what can I do for active the project.

Now I am curious to know what caused the problem?

Had the same problem on the ES PC when opening the Project even though the PC Name was correct for years (and not changed in any way) :

- Checked network configuration

- Deleted dcf file

- Deleted server package

- Stopped SQL Server

- Restart the PC several time.

None of this worked. At the end I opened the project, renamed the server in the project to a PC that doesn't exist. Close/Open the project. Renamed the Server back to the original PC name. Closed/Opened the project and then it worked again

Dear Experts,

I have the same problem when creating a new project with WinCC V7.4

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling wincc V7.4, but still the error remains (Server not availble). i have no user accounts on the PC and have full access (logged in as administrator)

Any ideas on how to resolve this.

I have a Server Client configuration and three of the clients are connected and running.  I am trying to add in my forth client and I am getting the "Server Not Available" error.

I need more information on "If you have a Server Client project delete from serverdata the server package and create the server packade again".  Where is "serverdata" (I assume on the server), speciffically which directory and how do I "create the server package" again.  Do I need to delete any other directories or files?  More specific instructions would be great.

Please correct the entered server name

Delete the dcf file from your Project  directory
-Close down WinCC completely and then delete "<Project name>.dcf".
-Then restart WinCC.  
-"<Project name>.dcf" is then automatically created with the right data.

If you have a Server Client project delete from serverdata the server package and create the server packade again

Hello,

I was getting the same problem after I reinstall a fresh copy of windows, then after installing WINCC 7.3 again, i could not open the old projects and get the same error you've mentioned.

Finally the problem was solved through the following:

1. make sure that both SQL SERVER (WINCC) and SQL SERVER AGENT (WINCC) services are started (automatically).

2. copy your project to wincc default projects folder.

3. Manually, add "SIMATIC HMI" & "SIMATIC HMI VIEWER" to your project folder groups or usernames by:

right click in your project folder, properties, security tap, click on "edit" under groups or usernames, then add, then type the A/M into the box off-curse one by one

4. remove read only from the main project name folder, by right click in your project folder, properties, then remove read only check.

5. inside your project folder, delete files as following:

projectname.lck

projectname.dc

projectname.dcf

This worked for me; hope it helps you.

when i click ok then it try to open and after sometimes its again showing cannot connect to server

..?

how shall solve this..?
