Real-time Wireless Profinet

Wireless Profinet Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hello, We are students and we are studying about Wireless PROFINET. We have a Wireless PROFINET networkwhere aCPU 315-2 PN/DP communicates with an ET200S I/O Module. Between this connection there is wireless communication with a accespoint (SCALANCE W788-1PRO) and a client module (SCALANCE W744-1PRO). The second client module is the laptop that we use for communication with the CPU and internet. My questions are: In the acces point you can set the client module on Critical Compliant (CC). Now it is on Non Critical Satisfied (NCR), we already have in IFeatures >iQos resereved bandwith (500 kb) for the client moduleand theResponse time is 15 ms,howcan you get it on that Critical Compilant? How low can the update time in the Hardware configuration be set, when the wireless communication is on Critical Compilant? Is the communication now real-time or must we change more settings? [:blush:] Well, with this information I can tell you that this has nothing to do with real time Wireless PROFINET. What can be said is that PROFINET over Wireless Ethernet will not work with a Cycle time of 1 ms, like wired Ethernet could do.Therecommended update setting in Wireless networks is 16 ms. This allows the System to allow other nodes to communicate to the network, besides the PROFINET IO device. A Real time Wireless would be very hard to solve, because you would have to warranty a stable radio field with adequate Transfer speedsacross the complete moving range. Best regards J_Bell

This question is answerred in the manual. So I placed the information inside this post: Critical Compliant (CC) This involves clients that were defined as critical and that are currently meeting the requirements you set for the bandwidth and response time. Critical Non-Compliant (CNC) The CNC clients are also clients with strict requirements regarding the response time and bandwidth. In contrast to the CC clients, however, these clients are not currently meeting these requirements. Non-Critical Satisfied (NCS) These clients do not have fixed requirements regarding the response time and minimum bandwidth. Their communication is not currently restricted by iQoS. Non-Critical Regulated (NCR) These clients are also non-critical clients whose communication is, however, currently being restricted by iQoS in favor of critical clients. Non-Critical Non-Responsive (NCNR) Some clients that require no acknowledgment whatsoever for their communication (for example UDP traffic) cannot be regulated by iQoS. These are classified as NCNR. How low can the update time in the Hardware configuration be set, when the wireless communication is on Critical Compilant? As J_Bell already told the best update time for Profinet over Industrial Wireless LAN application is 16 ms. For every extra client the update time should be a couple ms higher. How much higher depends on the sum of all the data transeferred. Is the communication now real-time or must we change more settings? Yes your application is know called realtime, but keep in mind that is not as realtime as a solution with a wired network and a update time of 1 ms.
