Selecting Optional Hardware Modules for Program Efficiency

I have two very similar programs that control different variants of a machine. Both programs are extremely alike, with the only disparity being that one necessitates an additional Digital Module SM1223. My aim is to streamline the operation by amalgamating both programs into a flexible unified program. This combined program would then be selectable via my HMI for the desired machine variant. However, I'm facing a challenge. I'm unsure if it's feasible to set up a hardware configuration, as depicted in the image below: - CPU S7-1215C - Digital Module SM1223 - Analog Module AI1231 - Digital Module SM1223 (Optional) My query is whether it's possible to utilize a configuration where the complete setup isn't mandatory when running the program that doesn't require the additional Digital Module. Maybe this helps as a basic idea. Configuring standard machines in TIA Portal (configuration control) regards sancruz
