Hi guys

There are numbers of topics about this but I still can not find what I need.

I have CPU1214, TM PosInput 1 which are connected trough IM (ET200sp) and SSI absolute encoder 12 bit single turn and 12 bit multiturn. I am using TIA v13. So the only operation mode I can use is Manual mode as I understand.

Should I use record 128 to configure my SSI encoder or there are some other ways?

I was trying just for test to use Position input for motion control but if I look into 4 first bytes they are not changing. I dont think I can use this mode with my CPU and it was just to test.

I have read number of manuals regarding TM module but any way I am a bit confused how to do

Did you set Bit 10 in STW2_ENC (see Chapter 4.2.1)?

If you want to use a TechnologyObject, this handles several things like control and status words for you.
If you use a drive, select Position Input for MC

I dont use drive and I can not use technological object in v13. I will read that manual you linked to.

What I want to do with SSI encoder is to measure hight on the crane. But I can not actually understand how to get the absolute value (position ) from my encoder and wich mode of operation to use in my hardware config.

Ok, I didn't notice so far the TO counting & measurement is not available in the S7-1200.

 I absolutely agree with you huggy_d1 but at the moment I dont have that hardware so I need to figure out how to make mine to work:)

You could purchase an SSI Absolute Encoder to Profinet device, integrate with the encoder and your project, and the problem becomes much simpler.

In manual mode it works very well. Unfortunately I can not use IRT mode with my CPU but this crane application is not time critical.

I have a few SSI encoders which I would liek to connect to S7 1200 CPU.
