Step 7 Basic License Key

I am currently the only one here that knows how to use TIA Portal, however we are looking at hiring another person that will also be able to use it. As I was the only one using it, I stored the license on my PC but if we have another person needing to use it, this would be a bit of a hassle having to transfer the license between PCs. I was wondering can the license be stored on our server and then be used by whoever needs it?

ChristophD Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 9/2/2025 Posts: 22709 Rating: (3071)	install alm on the server transfer the licence from the local client to the Server in the settings of ALM go to tab Connection and enable remote Conection on the client rigth Click on my Desktop in ALM and Connect Computer Enter the name of the server with the licence

The nearest was Set up a license server and operate the ALM as a license server for VMware Workstation. Please let the forum know if your query has been resolved. -- Do consider getting a 2nd license. I think having another Basic level license is worth the money. Be careful however. The next version V20 is expected very soon. (Unofficial / personal guessing: Before January 2025.) It would be best if you can hold out until then. Buy the V20 (or V19 with upgrade option) even if you use it only to use Step7/Wincc Basic V14. The V20 license would allow you to run any V1x version of the same variant (ie. Basic).
