If you have any projects stored on the external drive, you need to remove them from the "recent projects" list (while the external drive is connected). Once the recent projects list only shows projects pointing to folders on your PG/PC, it should be ok.

It is also possible you have a global library stored on the external drive.  If that is the case, you need to move that library to your PG/PC and modify your global library configuration so it only loads the local copy.

My TIA portal is crashing as soon as I hit "Project" in the menu bar. Strangely it works when I connect my external HHD which I use to store archives. Once the external drive is attached it works fine. Somehow there is a reference to this external drive somewhere, but I cannot find where and why. 

I already did a fresh install after i removed TIA Portal V17 first and cleaned the registry.

Anyone seen this behaviour before and knows how to solve it?
