On my project I need two things:

1) a counter for the hours that the machine has been working (increase time).

2)a counter for the maintenance time. In this case it should count up to a certain specified time and give an alarm for Maintenance Time. (maybe decrease time??). In this case what do I need?

Both counter must be shown on the HMI screen.

I was thinking about using TON with T#21D on PT, but I really don´t know if it would work on this case or if it would be the best option.

Could anyone give more ideas, suggestions, examples, please?

I´m using TIA PORTAL V14sp1, S71200 1214C and TP900Comfort.

The RTM is the technical correct tool for the job.
It will do what you need.
BUT - it is not friendly to work with.

I urge you to read the online documentation in TIA or in the S7-1200 System Manual to make an informed decision.

The alternative is to create a pulse counter. A pulse generator by timers or system clock bit supply the trigger for the counter. The counter can be stored in a retentive DB.

It can be a single counter (read: number variable like an UDINT), more than one counter or it could be a REAL / LREAL tag.

I like the "more than one counter" idea more. One counter to count seconds that in turn trigger day counter.
