Hello, You'll have to use the conversion appication that is included with Step 7. This manual is very helpful with the program conversion. Depending on your program, the conversion application will convert 60-95% of you program for you. The rest you will have to do on your own. It does a great job converting your existing S5 documentation to S7 as well. http://support.automation.siemens.com/US/view/en/1118413 I hope this helps! Howard |

Hello S7-300 or S7-200? It's depemds how much money and efforts you'll be ready to spent. I mean if you can chouse s7-200 CPU, in this case you can't use S5 to S7 converter and then must by yourselves to build program in Microwin. OP5 can be connect by PPI connection. You'll need PPI cable + Protool and Microwin software. In case with S7-300 you can use S5 to S7 converter, (this will help you, but not every block from S5 is translable into S7, look at manual). And you'll need Step 7 softaware. For OP5 you can connect by MPI connection. Also will needs Protool software to make changes in panel. Finaly I suggest you to use old system and add this SWAREX P module. I can see from others how to connect, how to parametized, how to read/write parameters in Step5 software. This will be easier and cheaper. Of course if you have idea to connect wih other system in the future, better go to update hardware. regards |
