Sergio_SanRo Joined: 7/7/2023 Last visit: 1/15/2025 Posts: 32 Rating: (0)	hello experts, I am trying to read the PLC states, if it is in RUN and in STOP etc. I'm using GET_DIAG but I don't get results, I don't know if I'm entering the right LADDR or this block is not used for this. I am using these system variables but I see no change in the diagnostics when the plc is in stop and run. Thanks, Sergio

Wanting the PLC to read its own STOP mode state is not possible. Reading the LED state is helpful when identifying the various function modes while the PLC is in a running state. Take one step back. Explain what do you want to do with knowing the PLC is in STOP. For example, a heartbeat bit (on/off cycle) can indicate to a partner device that the PLC is in running state.

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 9/12/2025 Posts: 16094 Rating: (2515)	One way around the 'stop' status is to configure the PLC is in stop mode by having one digital output default to ON when the PLC is stopped (rather than the default to OFF when stopped). You can detect the PLC stop state with HMI coordination area pointer, see link below with example and instruction of how to set up this. How do you evaluate the "RUN / STOP" mode of the CPU via an HMI operator panel? I hope this helps you in your project as it did on mine. Regards.
