Using two CU320-2DP and One main ALM?

Using One Chasis Active line module Unit to supply the DC Bus for the whole system. 2. Using two CU320-2DP to control the operation of the Motor modules. 3. Using Single book size Motor Modules for the eight motors. The Questions are: How can I connect my Control units to the Active line module? Is it possible to use drive-CliQ connections from both of the CUs to the ALM? Thanks in Advance

So we recommend to use one CU for the connection of the ALM and use digital inputs/outputs to send/receive information about the ALM (infeed in operation, fault etc.) to the secound CU (e. g. to wire these infromation to p864 on theaxes of the second CUetc.)

All the drive which are on this CU gets a automatic connection: drive- parameter p864 = infeed.r863.0 - so the drive gets the information, that the infeed is in operation. This informationmust be available on the other CU320-2DP too. So you can use a digital output on the first CU and connect it to a digitalinput on the second CU320-2DP. For example, you configure on the first CU: CU- parameter: p728.8 = output p738 = Infeed.r863.0 So you canconnect it on the second CU on the digitalinput 0 for example. So on the drives on the second CU: p864 = r722.0 for example.

Mahmoud Gad Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Dear TechTeam, That system originally is operated via: 1. One single rectification unit (Masterdrives Regenerative type Input 380VAC Output 600VDC 375A) 2. Simovert Drives for the motors. What If - for cost reduction considerations - I utilized the Rectification unit of the Masterdrives and used it to supply the Sinamics S120 Motor Modules (Replacements of the Simovert) and used the Input/outputs to transfer the condition of the rectification unit to the CU320-2DP. I think that this configuration will work, What do you think? Thanks in Advance

Therefore this configuration can only be used without guarantee/on your own risk. From the technical point of view an exchange of Masterdrives inverters to Sinamics inverters with using the Masterdrives infeed is not recommended at all. In case of Masterdrives the most of the capacitance is in the inverters (and not too much in the infeed), in case of Sinamics the most of the capacitance is in the infeed and the capacitance in the motor modules is quite low. So that in case of a complete exchange of Masterdrives inverters to Sinamics MoMos the total capacitance would be drastically reduced . This will cause higher current ripples in the DC link which has negative effects not only in the regulation but also in the lifetime.
