how to use the Free function block?(at which situation to use it ?)

i know how to active it .but i don't know why to active it .isit used in DCC only?

Hello,

the free blocks and DCC are two different pair of shoes. DCC can be used with the CU320(-2) and CU310(-2) family drives, the free blocks are available inmost of theG120 drivesas well (but they don't have DCC). In case of the free blocks thereare only a fixed amount of blocks available and only in REAL format, in case of DCC much more blocks can be used and even in other formats just like INT, DINT etc. With DCC everything can be done in a graphical way, by using the free blocks everything must be done in the expert list. On the other side DCC needs an engineering license and the free blocks not.

OK if i don't have a controller ,then can use the free blocks to do some logical calculate.if i have a controller ( for example D445) then i don't need to use it free blocks,right?
