How did you get your job?? Story time vs X-Men

(Note the analogy between X-Men and automation guys; everyone has his strong abilitye.g. Step5, Redundancy, Drives. etc...). The difference that we haven't been exposed to nuclear radiation to become automation guys.... I guess !!! Therefore following the sequel of How many years of experience do you have??and What is your job, I think the next episode should be the story beginnings. How did you get your job (current job or choose any number of jobs you've been into) ?? Is it the same in all countries?? Have you been accepted due to your certification from college or based upon experience?? many questions..... This thread can help guys who are willing to work in another countries to know (basically) how it is done abroad. As the starter of the thread, I think i should go first. Well I would call this story "The three interviews". I got graduated from college and got recommended to the company I'm working for by my supervisor doctor in college. I did one interview and no one called, but I called them, then they scheduled another interview. I did the second interview and also no one called, but I also called them and the scheduled another interview. Then I was accepted in the third interview. I find it strange to repeat the interview, but that's what happend. Maybe they hired me to get rid of the annoyance, because I was going to call them again if they didn't call In Egypt, college certificate is important to get hired. I was fresh graduate, so many companies look for fresh graduates (cheaper) while keeping some experts.

Luckily for me, I was selected. They even sponsored me for my second year at college. When my course was complete, I went to the HR officer for the firm asking if there were any positions available. He said that there were some assistant applications engineer positions available, but I did not have the necessary qualifications to apply. I found this very strange being as they sponsored me for my second year and also had some input into the course material for the second year! I insisted that he get me an interview. He reluctanly agreed saying "It is waste of time, you will not get the job". Anyway, I passed the interview in fine form and they gave me a position on the basis of a six month review. I performed well and when I had my six month review they offered me a permanent position. The rest, as they say, is history. There is a tinge of sadness to the story. The person who interviewed and selected me at college became a firm friend and colleague, and was my mentor during my early years. Sadly, he died of cancer a few years ago. A very sad loss as he was a superb engineer and a wonderful person.
	Programming today is the race between software engineers building bigger and better idiot proof programs, and the universe producing bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning...

Few years later they needed an elctrician so i got that job and started learning automation. Now 25 years later still working there and like my job. Regards, Marcjan

Lets say its A, there were interview for this company A and another Big company B I was not able to go through all round. In both companies, I was failed in final round and just disappointed. Later, I got call for interview in Automation based company with very little salary compare to this A and B but I worked for there almost 2 years. Learn lots of new things and couple of time did project in Gulf too. Suddenly I got interview call from Company B and Got a good offer so Joined that. But during this time, I was on one project in Company A as a comissioning engg for drives and just because I left that Job, they need another Person. They were very much impressed by me so they just called me to Join and I resigned from B in just couple of month because the company A is at near my hometown, giving good package and very big compare to B I hope I didnt confused you all
	I dont Like people driving Fast, thats the reason I overtake them ;)

Now I can take a break and have a look for the starting days..... Oh it was so far but remember it as if it was two minutes ago. I only made one interview in my life till now and I made a final statement at the end: "If you are willing to accept me, I would like to know NOW" and he was so brave to tell it to me you are accepted. I do not know if I was so lucky that day, because no one fulfilled the same position was accepted from the first interview, especially when you know that I spent more than two and half hours in a non-technical interview. Days are moving so fast but still some events are written on an EPROM

When studying in university I've started to work as science assistant. Then after some years I was fed up with the science and friend from company told that they are searching for PLC programmer. I went for that company and understood that theory in science is quite different from practice and real work. After 2 years company bankrupt - they were making TV tubes, so it normal that it has bankrupted. Then changed company to current one and started to work with big projects as subcontractors for big worldwide companies. Since then I've started to feel happy every day
