LOGO! program lost

ionut.b Bronze Member Joined: 1/17/2007 Last visit: 10/6/2020 Posts: 289 Rating: (3)	I have a LOGO (without display) connected with TD Display. The client says that the program inside is lost. I suspect two variants: 1. they say that form time to time the power is down: LOGO is powered thorugh a SITOP PS. Is it possible to lose the program from a power failure ? 2. someone intentionaly deleted the program through the menu of TD Display. The program is password protected, but from LOGO manual I see that after three atempts to delete the program by enetering a wrong password the program will still be deleted. I am not sure about the TD menu.. Does it have CLEAR PROGRAM option? Thank you.

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, you are right, it is possible to deleted a PW protected program at LOGO! base module. This is not possible via a connected TD. I had the same problems. The result of my investigation was the operator has deleted the programby him selve at the LOGO! BM in any case. Butthis point was fixed by Siemens with LOGO!0BA6 E-Stand 4 andLOGO! TD E-Stand 4. If you use a E-Stand 4 LOGO! BM, then you can not delete a PW protectedProgram at a LOGO! BM if you do not know the PW. TD changes: with older versions of the TD & LOGO! 0BA6 BM you can switch the LOGO! BM in STOP mode form the TD but not in RUN mode. This not possible any more with both E-Stand 4 and a programm PW. But the LOGO! BM as well as the TD must be E-Stand 4. I hope this helps

BM is one without display, so I don't think it's possible for the user to delete the program. 6ED1052-2MD00-0BA6 6ED1055-4MH00-0BA0 How to check E-stand version ? You say that regardless the version for TD Display you can't delete the program via it's menu. So it can't be deleted via LOGO! BM display (it's missing) and also not via TD display. What other scenario should I consider?

Fux Posts: 661 Rating: (123)	1) LOGO! TD has no "clear program" option. This cannot be the reason. 2) A program is stored in the LOGO! base module "forever". Power failure doesn´t matter. LOGO! cannot loose the program without manipulation. I can imagine only following scenarios: 1) Disconnection of the programming cable or abort of the data transfer while downloading 2) An emtpy card has been inserted and LOGO! read the empty program from the card. 3) "Clear user program and password" has been used (SW feature) 4) LOGO! has been used in combination with a copy protected memory card. If then the card is pulled out, LOGO! is empty. Plug this card again, then it will work as before (after reading the card) The E-Stand (development status) is a matrix, printed on the housing. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/18298033 But as Helmut wrote: In your case, the E-Stand is not reason for your problem. With ES4, the TD has new feature.

ionut.b Bronze Member Joined: 1/17/2007 Last visit: 10/6/2020 Posts: 289 Rating: (3)	LOGO! BM wasn't using a memory card at all, so extracting the copy-protected card is not a cause. Remains the possibility of the user to place a empty card in the PLC, or to delete (by mistake) the program via Soft Comfort. Maybe try an upload and asked for password, and try to clear the password from Soft Comfort. I asked them to send back the module for inspection. Could I get some additional info from the module besides an empty LOGO? I don't know if I can see a date for last connection with a PC or something like that. Thank you.

Correct. As LOGO! offers no "history file", it will be hard to get more information. You will only see if LOGO! is empty or not. No protocoll of "last connection". Only in the software file you see a statistic, when the program has been modified the last time.
