On a Project of mine I'm designing an upgrade to a motor control center which has existing S1 devices (Specifically WEG CFW11 VSDs) as well as Simocode devices

The plants new PLC infrastructure is S7-400 H Profinet

Which specifically doesn't support S1 devices (The Simocodes are S2 and supported, so they arent relevant to this question)

It's my understanding that these S1 devices will function on the network initially, but cannot communicate with the backup PLC in the event of a changeover from 1 PLC to the other.

Is there a known workaround for this issue? 

I know for Profibus a Y-Link device would cater for this problem on  a Profibus H-system, but my local siemens rep has informed me that the Profinet equivalent (The Y-Switch) does not yet have that capability (although it may be coming some time next year)

Is there no other way to perhaps allow for the redundancy? Perhaps by utilising a configuration of IE/PB Link HA gateways in conjunction with a Profibus Y-link as a temporary measure until the new components are released?

Any advice would be appreciated.
