S7 1200 TCP/IP Speed??

Neil Lucas Posts: 34 Rating: (1)	I understand without the project this is tricky to offer advice on, however, here is my problem. We have a 1214FC connected to a Lenze C300 controller via TCP. I am sending 100 bytes every 10ms (via TSEND) and the Lenze controller picks this up just fine. The Lenze controller is sending 100 bytes at 25ms and the S7 fails at picking up some of the data. If we increase the send pulse to 100ms it works fine. This is too slow though for our needs, an idea time would be 10ms like the S7 send pulse. Using TSEND & TRCV (along with TCON) to send / receive the data. The longest cycle time in the S7 is 23ms / would this have an impact. Or putting the TCP FC in a cyclic interupt at say 10ms? Summary: TCP works but not being received quick enough. If anyone has any ideas, that would be much appreciated. TIA

Hi Neil, How the communication is called in cycle with OB1 is going to hamper you. I think you have a good idea using a cycle interrupt - worth a try. Do consider that these blocks trigger on a edge trigger on the request (REQ) input. That means you have to give the block chance to realise that the REQ pin has switched off. This means the rate of the cycle interrupt would be more than what you actually need. Do these thoughts help? w Late Note: Is UDP possible for you? https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/20983558 The UDP protocol (User Datagram Protocol) was implemented for performance reasons. It offers multiple possibilities of use due to its slim frame header. In addition, almost every component in Industrial Ethernet supports the UDP protocol. The unacknowledged transfer of the data has unfavorable consequences.

If that fails I will move it over to a Cyclic Interupt, if that fails I will try UDP. I'll post results as and when.
