Jigs_C Posts: 33 Rating: (1)	Hi Friends, can any one please explain the criterias for how to choose the CPU? I mean what parameters I should be looking at before deciding on the type of PLC and then CPU number? Is there any manual where I can learn about this? Thanks

There are many ways of getting this type of information, the HWConfig editor shows details of every CPU you wish to select in your configuration, the A&D Mall is an on-line catalog that you can access on the web. The Product Support (see the link at the top of this page) allows you access to all manuals from A&D (Siemens' automation and drives division). The following manual has 2 chapters on the technical specifications of the standard and compact CPUs; http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/12996906 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

If you search the A&D site i think theres a diagram of memory useage to selection of CPU somewhere. Theresonein the Simatics Brouchure as I have it infront of me.You can order onefrom the site.

Eastern Posts: 557 Rating: (64)	hi Before going to cpu selection u should have a following idea. 1) load memory utilization 2) word memory utilization 3) input output utilization 4) timer counter utilization 5)If commuinication required with other device 6) intelligent device these information is required to match with the performence data of cpu. regards vivek
