Hi experts, I had assistence to a factory in which an incremental encoder has been damaged. The encoder that has been damaged has the following reference : GI355.A60C323. I have not been able to find information on internet about this encoder. The costumer has purchased a diferent encoder to replace it with the following reference: EIL580 - SC10.5FN.01024.A - 11101692 24V PULSES HTL would like to know if this encoder is compatible with my fm 350 - 2 pulse counter. We connected this new encoder but it was not possible to recieve any reading or counting. Could it be that we need to change the encoder for a 5V TTL pulse encoder? I am attaching FM 350 - 2 manual, i read that this fm counter only supports 24v encoder pulses but it didn´t work for us. Thank you for your answers in advance. Hello Alvaro; Encoders with HTL output are also known as" push-pull encoders". As you can see from this introducton page of the FM 350-2 counter module, it does support 24V push-pull encoders, so your HTL encoders should be acceptable.. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/1105178/28038348299 Your 24 V encoder must use A0 to A7 inputs on the front connector, direction signals (if in use) require connection to B0-B7. A seperate power input (24V) must be supplied at terminals 21(+) and 22(-). https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/1105178/53817483 "Encoder Signals A0 to A7, B0 to B7 You can connect four different types of encoder: ● NAMUR encoders to DIN 19234 (with diagnostics function): The signals are wired to terminals A0 to A7. ● 24-V incremental encoders: The signals A0/B0 to A7/B7 are connected via the terminals so labeled. ● 24-V pulse encoder with direction level. The count signals are wired to terminals A0 to A7. The directional signals are wired to terminals B0 to B7. ● 24 V pulse encoders. The signals are wired to terminals A0 to A7. Note
You must connect the encoder supply for the 24-V encoders via an external 24 VDC

Hello Mr. dchartier, thank you very much for your help. Currently all we have done is replace the damaged encoder with a new HTL encoder. The PLC program is the same as for the damaged encoder. What do you think about correctly connecting the encoder with the program of the damaged encoder? Should the program read data when we rotate encoder or maybe we need to reconfigure the FM 350 - 2 for the new encoder? In the case of not having to reconfigure the FM 350 - 2, it may be a problem with the encoder wiring i think. Thank you so much for your help sir. |
