ModBus master/slave with DB as a pointer error

Estring Posts: 86 Rating: (3)	Hi all, I've been trying to make a modbus RS-485 on S7-1200 PLC and faced a little problem that i can't understand and maybe you could help me. when i writing in to a DATA_PTR(master) or MB_HOLD_REG(slave) in this configuration P#DB5.DBX0.0 WORD 5 the blocks popup an error and in the status word its gives me 818C code(master) that says "Invalid pointer for DATA_PTR or invalid Blocked_Proc_Timeout: The data area must be a DB (that allows both symbolic and direct access) or a M memory" or 8187 code(slave) that says "Invalid pointer to MB_HOLD_REG DB: Area is too small". see attached printscreen to described problem. i've tried to make the DB with an array or just words and ofcourse they are bigger then the length that i read e.g reading 5 registers my DB size 10. waiting for you ideas. Right click on the DB, select properties and look at the attributes. If it has a check-box, while off-line, try to uncheck the box. If it works, compile and download. If not, you may need to create a new DB and ensure that check box is not set.

Krishna.sreelakam Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have same issue. Am communicating with device using Modbus comm load and Modbus master. Device is communicating with PLC properly. But if I change the datablock to optimized which is given to the DATA_PTR, it is showing 818C. After removing the optimization tick mark am able to communicate with the device. Why optimization is not taking by the DATA_POINTER??
