OPC UA has just come out as specification, S7-1200 has ProfiNet by design, so it looks like we should be expecting something soon. Anyone has any info on the matter? Mr D Posts: 21 Rating: (4)	As far as I am aware there is currently no OPC support for S7-1200. However, I have had comms established between the S7-1200 and Simatic Net OPC using the 300/400 driver in Simatic Net and setting rack and slot to 0. This is not system tested as yet though, hence no official S7-1200 driver.

RPvM Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Well, we did a small test here with our S7-1200 and we could establish a connection between the Simatic NET OPC server and the S7-1200 and read/write variables with an "ordinary" S7-connection. So that opens a lot of possiblities. Maybe a low-budget version will follow, like the one for S7-200, but for now it looks like Simatic Net will do the job. I do not know whether Siemens does support this configuration, but here it seems to work well. Regards, Ronald

Zunar Posts: 60 Rating: (6)	Hi RPvM, The smaller S7-200 OPC Server you refer to is called "S7-200 PC Access". I've experimentedwith it some and have hade success accessing I/Q/M memory areas. If you have a DB1 data block that was created NOT "Symbolic Only" in Step7+ then you can access the data within this block as"V-memory"in PC Access. V100.0, VB1, VW1, etc... In order to connect, I selected TCP/IP in the PC/PG interface,used 10.00 for the local TSAP and03.01 for the remote TSAP.

steen_ag Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	hallo You can do just the same OPC communication to the 1200 as to the 300 and 400 CPU. Just from the OPC make an unspecified S7 connection as usual and under details use rack 0 /slot 0. This will work well steen aage nielsen technical support in Denmark

Just one thing, the slot of the S7-1200 CPU is the "1", not "0". Anyway, the OPC will work with the slot 0 or 1 (only with these, with a different slot won't work). So, the right TSAP is 03.01, but 03.00 will work too. Best regards, Ramón Quintela

It's simple but taking the restrictions below into account, PC Access can be used for the data exchange with a S7-1200. 1.Only the DB1 data block can be accessed 2.The data block must be declared “non-symbolic” 3.To address the variables in the data block the syntax of the S7-200 is obligatory (V, VB, VW, VD) You-win Tang From Taiwan
