I'm looking for information on the new S7-1200 Safety (Fail safe) CPU's? (CPU 1214FC for example)

My two questions would be:-

1- Will there be local safe IO available for this CPU

2- I currently use an AS-i master on my S7-1200 CPU with an external safety monitor hanging on the same AS-i network. I am wondering if I use an S7-1200 Safety CPU, can I simply monitor safe IO over AS-i "without" a safety monitor? Can I write safety logic directly in the safety CPU using AS-i IO? Now wouldn't that be a really clean solution?

Nobody seems to know anything at Siemens....any "word from the street" would be appreciated.

Regarding to your first question:

Open theSIMATIC Industrial Software SIMATIC Safety - Configuring and Programming manual under chapter "2.1 Overview of Configuration" where you can read:

"Which F-components can you configure with the STEP 7 Safety Basic V13 SP1 optional package?
The following hardware components are configured for a SIMATIC Safety F-system with the STEP 7 Safety Basic V13 SP1 optional package:
● S7-1200 F-CPUs
● F-I/Os of PROFIsafe address type 2
– S7-1200 fail-safe modules (central configuration)"

Looks like the Fail-safe IO modules are mentioned for the S7-1200. They just aren't to be found anywhere yet....including the device library in TIA V13 UPD1

For S7-1200F you need to install Step7 V13 SP1 Professional and Safety Advanced V13 SP1. Both of these may be downloaded from the customer support as trial license. This will add the S7-1200F CPU to the hardware library and will allow you to create a safety program. For the failsafe IO you must install the HSP pack for TIA Portal found here https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/us/en/view/72341852

Once this is done you will see the S7-1200F and S71200F-SM's

If you are using Step7 V13 SP1 Basic then you will need to use Safety Basic V13 SP1. In this case it must be ordered. Or perhaps Siemens will provide a trial download for this as well, I guess we will see when they post the info.
