Hi Is it possible to connect an S71500 OPC UA client PLC to an S71500 OPC UA server PLC where the server PLC sits behind a router with NAT? I've been able to browse the tags and read live values using a standard client app from Prosys, and I'm also able to browse the tags from within TIA Portal when setting up the client interface of the OPC UA client PLC, but when I try to programmatically connect I get an error (8601). I'm aware of the following article, but assume this is more in reference to client apps running on computers as GetEndpointAddress doesn't appear in any of the PLC OPC blocks. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/109766709 Thanks |

I'm currently struggling with the same issue and trying to revive this topic: I have two identical machines running Siemens OPC Client and server both have192.168.0.92IP, they are connected to separate VLAN's and are communicating with each other through NAT. I'm able to access their both OPC UA server interfaces through same NAT using the same IP areas and VLAN interface with UaExpert client on my PC, also I'm able to browse the server interfaces through 'Online access' in TIA Portal. However the compact OPC UA Instructions for reading nodes, creating connectiong etc. in TIA Portal dont work at all over NAT. I found out some resources from Siemens website like: But I think they are related to later stages of connection and I'm getting stuck in very beginning of transaction. The only status I get is "Connection is being established" and the timeout error for it taking too long. Any advice what things to take into consideration and if theres some modification I can use with Siemens blocks to get the connection working? Seems to me that more advanced standalone clients like UaExpert can handle this no problem but Siemens more straightforward function blocks cannot without some additional work. Thanks in advance. |
