I am currently experiencing an issue when trying to install Simotion Scout v4.3 Hotfix 12 and Hotfix 17. Throughout the installation process I am given an error of the following form: Installation errors occured! Please check the log file C:\PROGRA~3\Siemens\AUTOMA~1\Logfiles\Setup\... When I attempt to check the log file there does not appear to be any relevant reason to why the installation is not working, but the log files and error images can be in the attached ZIP file. This issue appears no matter the major hotfix that is installed (Base install, HF3, and HF12) and seems to occur during the process of installing SIMATIC and SIMOTION software in the installer (as well as a few others). If the "OK" is clicked the installer continues installing the next bit of software in the installer. When the end of the installer is reached a large number of XML errors appears which can also be seen attached: Error occurred while reading in the file: (null) MSXML error text:The parameter is incorrect. From a few Google searches I have not been able to find a working resolution to this issue. I have checked the directory short names and verified they exist, and I have tried reinstalling from/to a short directory path (C:\Siemens\Step7). I have also tried completely uninstalling and re-installing Step 7 and Scout which does not resolve the issue. I've also gone through the Install Guide associated with both Step 7 and Scout and verified I have required dependencies and software versions. It should also be noted that both Step 7 and Scout work fine running on a virtual machine but not natively. In case it matters I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit and I am an administrator on this computer. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated! AttachmentScout Errors.zip (400 Downloads) |

Hi, Please find attached the mkcfgdb log files. There doesn't appear to be anything interesting in these files, at least on my computer. I do have an antivirus software running however the entire Program Files directory (both x64 and x86) are excluded. The antivirus software we use is called System Center Endpoint Protection which is an enterprise version of Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). It appears as though mkcfgdb.bat doesn't exist on this computer because I've uninstalled Scout since pulling the error logs and images from the last Scout installation attempt. I've gone ahead and ran the command on my colleague's computer and pulled the log file and the error from his computer. These can be found attached below. From the log file I'm seeing that the directory C:\Windows\System32\u7setup doesn't exist, but I'm unsure of why this is. Thanks. Attachmentmkcfgdb bat logs and error.zip (335 Downloads) |
