I have a TIA Portal V13 and WinCC V13 Runtime Advanced. I need to create a data log to an SQL database using VB script. Try to do with this sample:

The connection between the runtime and the MS SQL Express 2005 database are OK.
My problem is...
Every sample project the first colum in the database is a number, but in my project I need first colum for a string (barcode).
Because every product has a barcode. The worker read the barcode, in the PLC this is a string format. After reading I need to log this barcode in the SQL database.
For exaple like this:

Colum1     Colum2   Colum3
Barcode    Date         Time

I think you are understand wath is my problem.
Please help me.

I did a similar project using this FAQ last week.

You will have to take a look into the VB script they did and modify it your way.

OR

You can use an instruction to change the string you get from the barcode and change it into a numerical value.

There is instruction for that in Siemens PLC or you can use a VB script.

I have alrady finnished a Win CC script. I can read and write datas between the SQL and PLC. Only have one more problem...

The data type in the PLC is a STRING, wich can I choose in the SQL?

I already attached the scritp code.
When I write numbers in the string (for example 1234) the script woking fine, but with letters (for example abcd) has an error invalid column name...
I don't understand what is the problem...
Only this line has a problem:

In the select statement, you need to enclose strings with quotes like 'barcode' for example.

So you have to add the quotes to the select statement like this:

SQL_Table = "SELECT * FROM " & SmartTags("tabla_neve") & " WHERE vonalkod = '" & SmartTags("uj_sor_vonalkod") & "'"

It may be difficult to see because the double-quotes and single-quotes looks similar ("'"):

... WHERE vonalkod = '" & SmartTags("uj_sor_vonalkod") & "'"
