Changing from SIMATIC TI545 to S7

gfair Posts: 37 Rating: (0)	This is my first exposure to TI505. I have a rack with a TI505 PS, a TI545 CPU and a host of I/O cards (3 D/I, 2 D/O, 2 AI, 1 AO). The TI545 is to be swapped out for an S7-300 as CPU and an TI505 L2DP Remote Base Controller as DP interface. There is a requirement to check the program in both before the CPU is changed over. Is it possible to install the TI505 as a DP Slave in the rack while the TI545 is in situ and map the I/O to the TI505 and the S7. My initial thoughts are that, No I can't. Thanks in advance.

billwest Posts: 510 Rating: (119)	It is not possible for both the 545 and the 315 to write to read and write the I/O simultaneusly. An option is to use SIMATIC PLCSim to simulate the PLC and I/O. PLCSim has a Visual Basic interface that would allow you to write code to simulate your process. Regards, billwest

They have marketed a Profibus Slave Adaptor that allows the 505 CPu to remain active on the rack, while allowing a Profibus master toread/write up to 110 words of data from the 505CPU: http://www.controltechnology.com/products/2577/ So, if you have the budget and you have a slot available on your rack, this could be a solution for your project. Of course, if your505CPU has a Profibus master interface, you could use a Siemens DP/DP coupler (double-interface DP-slave) to exchange data with the replacement S7 CPU, which generally comes with a profibus master inerface as well. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1179382 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

There are slots available for another card. How does the CTI card transfer signals? TI545 to CTI card: is it using the MKS/ MKE, BKS/BKE and AKS/AKE like Teleperms? CTI card to S7 is the normal S7 method.

But there's little configuration to do in the CPU to enable this card. Attached is the user manual for this card. there's also an example how to configure it as a Profibus slave in Step7.
