Simatic OPC Data Control in VB.net

marty Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Greetings, I am looking for some guidance in using the OPC Data Control in VB.net. I have been able to assign opc tags to a text box by using the properties dialog of the OPC Data Control. My difficulty comes in finding the right syntax for declaring read/write tags in the vb code. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.

The graphic linkage of control elements, like text boxes, with OPC communication variables in the characteristic dialogue of the component SIMATIC NET OPC DATA OCX is not possible with Visual Studio .NET. Control elements must be linked directly in the program code. This is what I know about it. Best regards J_Bell

I found an example project in the opc2 folder of Simatic Net. it gives a fairly good example of the connections and reading/writing. I now need to be able to declare arraysof type OPCItem. This is not very straight forward like I first thought. If you have any experience with this please share. Here is the location of the sample projects. "your_siemens_install_path\SIMATIC.NET\opc2\samples" ( most likely "C:\Program Files\Siemens\SIMATIC.NET\opc2\samples"). Hope this helps others.

Ates Posts: 198 Rating: (17)	i am workin on this, in these days i could get opcfoundations opc2.05 specifications file which is : http://www.tsopc.com/documents/opcspec/opcda20_auto.pdf?PHPSESSID=fe889a13454612b4d9b3dd8fd5cc18fb#search=%22DataAccess%20Automation%20Interface%20Specification2%22 very good because here it describes all methods and properties of items. so as i see in opc2 samples it was reading from items, but in this document says that you can read from groups sendin elementsarrays, please take a look and please consider these infos looking to the example which is in "automation\sync.net" vb code.
