That depends on the type of Simotics motor. For 1PH7 and 1PH8 motors (Simotics M) brake can be ordered as an option and is mounted on the front (drive end) of the motor. Brake is controlled by terminal contacts on the brake module. Optionally it can also be ordered with a micro switch and a manual release. Please note that the motor brake is a holding brake and not a stopping brake. It is only supposed to be engaged after the motor stops to prevent unwanted movement. It cannot be used to decelerated a running load: it is not designed for that. For brake options and to see how it looks like refer to online CAD Creator tool: http://www.cad-creator.com. |
