Hi, 

Currently for our project we are using a S71515-F with PROFInet/PROFIsafe communication.

Our X2 P1 interface is sending data to an extenal module via UDP at 1.5 second intervals. On our

X1 P1/P2 interaces we have a simple MRP ring topology (PLC is the master) with 3 Profinet devices.

The Problem:

As we run the application for several consecutive days one particular PROFInet device of ours keeps

passivating for a split second (approx every 2 hours) and we cannot find the cause?

This device controls a barrier motor so the PLC program always commands one of 2 states (1 = Lower the barrier and 0 =open the barrier). Our update time for the I/Os is 16ms and the F-monitoring time is 1000 ms. The whole application runs correctly, but in the diagnostics buffer we keep getting this error.

Please advise us what we might look at/try?

Thanks for your reply, I checked through the program and we seem to 

have all IO devices with a greater WD time than 200 ms (they are set to WD=640 ms).

I've set our F-DI/DO modules to have an F-monitoring time of 640 ms as well but the 

problem still occurs. 

As its a Profisafe issue I know if the data packet is corrupted in anyway or the max amount of

lost packets are breached that the device goes into passivation.

I'm not sure if perhaps it could be an issue with re-downloading the program on the S71500 SMC without deleting its memory (which as far as I know its not possible to delete the memory before download in TIA portal). Or if there is a part of the program cycle which writes the profisafe data and it is somehow set less than the send clock of the data packet so it may send an incomplete or corrupted data packet?

Hi 

Sorry to jump on this 3 years late, I am having pretty much the same issue. I have worked on this for a few weeks now and monitored the packets using wireshark I could not detect any watchdog errors, Eventually I realised when I disconnect my machine with the errors from our external network it is fine as soon as I connect the network again I get the fault (passivation) a few hours later. Did you get any further with this? Also if anyone knows of any useful filters for pin pointing passivation errors in wireshark that would be great.

Hey. I know I'm super late to this thread, but I have something that might help other people troubleshooting the "Error in Profisafe communication with f-i/o" and "safety program f-i/o passivated" errors.
Basically, I had similar errors in the diagnostics of my panel i/o that I was working with, and they were super misleading because the actual issue was that I forgot to assign the Profisafe address to the safety modules of that panel i/o.

So, try double-checking that you have the correct F_Dest_Add value set in your F-Parameters setting, right click your PROFIsafe device, and then select "Assign PROFIsafe address".

There's just one more thing to check/try.

What happens if we are using MRP and Watchdog = 200ms but F-monitoring time is not matching the watchdog time? We have F-monitoring time of 150ms
