Hi, depending on how the reader is configured, you first need to send a command to the reader using the write command. That has to be done if default settings are used. The commands can be found in the manual, in the section describing serial communication. Here's a application axample. The reader can also be configured to use unidirectional communication mode. E.g. if you're only interested in the UID. Then your approach can be used, but then you can't send commands to the reader. |

Hi, Can you expand on the second part of your answer? I'm interested in reading just UID. How would you go about configuring the reader? Using Config Editor software via USB? I've searched through the manual you linked but can't seem to find anything about serial communication and configuration commands. |

Sorry, that was the wrong manual. This is the one I meant (maybe you need to select 05/2023 in the dropdown). I mean the first topic in chapter 7.1 (Cyclic reading of serial numbers --> Unidirectional data receipt without using the programming interface). Yes that needs to be configured via Config Editor and USB. |
