I'm currently stuck on the installation of the S7 node (page 6 in the document).

The problem is my hardware. I have an engineering station which for some reason can only have one connection at a time. So, it's either connected to the www or connected to the IOT. The documentation states, that a web connection is required. So, is there a work around for my problem?

Is there any way to save the file with a timestamp? I followed the instructions and am able to read the values from the plc. But how can I save the time, when the change occurred?

If I tell node red to just get the time as a variable from the data block, won't it trigger every second?

Does this work with a simulated plc?

I tried using PLCSIM Advanced to simulate a cpu with higher firmware. But the IOT cannot see the changes in the variables. It worked with a real plc but it doesn't work with the simulation.

Is that because of the simulation or did I just forget some configuration?

I attached an example which uses the IOT2000 time as timestamp. If you synchronize your PLC and your IOT with the same ntp server, this should be a good way. 

 How do I configure the node-red settings with a txt file? Until now, I just used the browser view...

S7 connection is no problem with PLCSim Advanced. So this should work, but I have to check this too.

Do you have connection to your PLCSim Advanced? Ping is possible? If not make sure that you selected "Virtual Ethernet Adapter" in your PLCSim settings.

 

 It doesn't work for me... I configured the virtual plc just like the real one that could communicate with the IOT before. But maybe there's something wrong with the configuration, because the IOT can't ping to the plc.

 Edit: I forgot to change the settings for the Ethernet port... I needed to check the box for the simulated switch. After I did that, S7 communication works just fine.

Are there some errors displayed by node-red?

Triggering the node to create a file with the timestamp works, but it doesn't include the values (see attached). I give the function the same input I give to a file node, which then creates a file with the values, but without a timestamp.

Is there a way to join the messages? Or a way to configure the function to sent the values as well as the timestamp?

I'm trying to use the examples from the Getting started. The message consists of a real tag and an integer tag. Both are in a message with some strings which are labeling the name of the tag.

I tried seperating them as well. It works neither with JUST the real or JUST the Integer...
