activate "OPC UA interface"

select "Parallel"

In the security settings:

select "No security"

select "Allow anonymous access"

Do we need a license for all functionalities?

Not for the reader.

You really should update to the latest firmware version.

The firmware you're using doesn't support parallel access. The settings mentioned above are related to the latest version of the firmware.

The old firmare allows only one application, to avoid problems that could occur, when two appliactions are trying to control the reader at the same time.

Paralell access is possible for diagnostic purposes in later versions of the firmware.

 Wow !! This is a big information for making the configuration that I want to. Could you link me to the late version of the firmware? It would be greatly appreciated if you could do that.

I have just downloaded the firmeware at the link. when I click SHA-256 , I can see Checksum number. this is also needed when I upgrade the firmware to RF680R ?  in addition , Could you also link me to the manual how to upgrade ?

The  SHA-256 is only intended to ensure the integrity of the firmware file. It's not needed to load the firmware.

The firmware can be loaded in the system section of the web interface.

I followed your instructions for using OPC UA and successfully accessed it via the UA Expert application on my laptop.

Additionally, I want to test RS422 serial communication while accessing OPC UA. However, after upgrading the firmware to version 4.0.2, RS422 does not seem to be working properly.

Originally, we were using a Beckhoff PLC that communicates with the RF680R reader via RS422.

I have confirmed that parallel access is enabled in the OPC UA settings.

How can I check whether RS422 is working correctly alongside OPC UA?
Is there any test application that I can install on my laptop to test the RS422 communication of the reader?

How did you get the Beckhoff PLC running with the RF680R reader via RS422?

The latest FW for the reader is V4.2. It can be found here.

The status bar in the web interface shows if both connections are established (RS422 and OPC)

There's no test application for a PC to test RS422 as far as I know. You could only try tools like teraterm, putty or hterm. But you'll need to know what to send to the reader (you should be able to find that in the code running on the PLC).
