S7-1200 incompatible device after IP change

dareng_68 Joined: 10/25/2024 Last visit: 8/15/2025 Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	I have attempted to change the IP address on a siemens s7-1200 PLC and during this upload of hardware and software it reported failed download. The plc is in stop and i can find it on accessible devices with the new IP address but there is no details apart from the IP address and if i attempt to download to device this comes up with incompatible device. Is there a way to factory default this plc or do i require a SD card to install the program

dareng_68 Joined: 10/25/2024 Last visit: 8/15/2025 Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	I have a Siemens SD card and have attempted to transfer the program with warm restart run, run stop flashes and maint flashes but under power reset the unit does not go into run or connectable to the TIA program. I also tried to use the card as a program memory but to no avail again the same flashing lights and no run. My next attempt will be to reload the firmware unless there is any other methods the forum members have used to reload programs. I think this processor is not recoverable, i have tried everything with the SD card from firmware to transfer to program. it always ends up as visible from the initial scan but unable to connect and not able to retrieve any information. It now sits there with amber led on the run stop led and that is all.

[..] while you find it in accessible devices, it would be possible to open it in the tree and go to functions. There you would find "reset to factory settings". Is this executable for you? Did you verify not having any IP-address-issue (e.g. same address for PLC and your engineering station, resp. to you work with virtual machine)? Regards, Frink
