Hi everybody! Has anyone done any more work/research on this topic? (see old thread /tf/WW/en/Posts/31729) I have seen that there are now modems available that create a VPN over GPRS for about €250 to €350. I have not worked on the COM Server ideas (see link /tf/WW/en/Posts/37756), but I thought that maybe these sort of modems with VPN over GPRS could let some data collecting app like LOGO! EXCEL LOGGER (See link /tf/WW/en/Posts/43593)run from a 'very' remote location - i.e. anywhere in the world! If this works, then there is maybe a way to do LOGO! Teleservice over GPRS (through the VPN) and also to be able to do Telemetry (remote data collection/monitoring) over GPRS. These modems can also handle SMSs the way that the INSYS does, so it is not too far fetched for someone clever to write an on-board program for one of these modems (in OPEN AT - Sierra Wireless/ex Wavecom or JAVA - Cinterion/ex Siemens or PYTHON - Telit) that can communicate with the LOGO! via the programming port/RS232 the same way that the INSYS does to periodically read the Process Image (PA) and package it either into SMSs (like the INSYS) or GPRS packets). C'mon clever people out there!!! This is a challenge for the 21st Century! Even if you do not know how it can be done, please let me know if this topic would be interesting for you..... THANKS! (Please 'rate', 'thank' or send beers by post!) Aaaaarrrrggghhhh!!! ("Have a nice day!") |
